Jorg Schellekens


Biography

Jorg Schellekens (1979) studied Theatre, Film and Television Studies at Utrecht University, specialising in theatre dramaturgy. In the past 18 years he was involved in hundreds of productions spanning a wide range of genres, in various artistic and technical capacities. The core of his work is developing sound and light designs for theatre, dance, music and visual arts.

In the past few seasons he made sound designs for amongst others ‘Einige Nachrichten and das All’ (Schauspielhaus Zürich, dir. Bram Jansen), Rauch (Theater Oberhausen, dir. Bram Jansen), ‘Lear’ (Toneelmakerij, dir. Liesbeth Coltof) and Maarten de Meeuw (Toneelmakerij, dir. Daniël van Klaveren).

Recent works for dance include 'Giacometti' (Konzert Theater Bern), 'Alleen de Grootste Nabijheid' (fABULEUS / DOX) and 'Giovanni's Room' (Korzo) by choreographer Ryan Djojokarso and 'Matta Matta' (Dansstationen Malmö, chor. Jasper Džuki Jelen & Mojra Vogelnik-Škerlj).

He teaches sound design at the Academy of Theatre and Dance in Amsterdam and publishes infrequently on topics related to theatre design.
